Review Firefox Cyclone

Postby vijaydes » April 10th, 2009, 9:51 am

Hi,
I have bought FireFox Cyclone more than a month back and have covered approx. 400 kms so far.. I cycle to long distances over the weekend (approx. 50 kms) and use it to ride to office once a week (45 kms). I use it for cycling (approx. 6-7 kms) everyday morning to reach my jogging track. I have found this cycle to be good value for money and I am very happy with this bike. However, Shimano Tourney gear system could have been a little better (it isn't very smooth as such..). I have experienced autoshifting a few times.. Although I understand it could be to do with the setting and I would soon get it serviced from the dealer here in Pune (purchased at Sai Baba's).

I would love to hear the reviews as well as opinions about this bike from users. Would love to receive some tips to improve my experience with Cylcone..

Thanks all and ride safe on road.

Vijay

whats your height vijay? i was using my friends cyclone for nearly a month and found it to be horridly uncomfortable. i tried everything right from changing the height of the saddle/handle bar to new gel seat covers. i am 6' btw.
however my friend who uses it everyday is very happy with it (hes 5' 8") so maybe i think its a frame size issue :)
where do you cycle every morning btw?
thanks

I am 5'6"... I haven't found it to be uncomfortable.. I cycle in Kothrud.. Go for jogging near Kumar Parisar.. That's nice road with separate cycling tracks and good footpaths.. It's called Shrikant Thakare Marg (named after father of Mr. Raj Thakare)..!

I'm a firefox rider for the last 2 months.. use a Dart 2.6.. have found the bike to be very comfortable to ride.. i have had a few minor issues with the bike

1. Auto gear changing.. more like gear slipping, especially from 2nd to 3rd.. got rectified after first service
2. Pedal got jammed and broke. had it changed at a local cyclewallah for 40 bucks..now works fine
3. The seat position keeps changing..seems to be rotating on its axis.. keeps going left and right... not yet resolved..

But otherwise, have really enjoyed the ride.. im 5'7 and weigh a lil more than 100kgs. go to work on cycle (approx 320 kms a month)

:-) Hope this reply helps, i own FF Cyclone as well and found it a good bike, except for the fact that it does give me problems because of my height. Therefore thinking of ugrading to a higher frame bike. The website spec mentions FF cyclone as a 19 " frame but I doubt that.

Cheers

I got a firefox cyclone today. I tried target as well but didnt noticed much difference between two except price difference of 2700 Rs.

Cyclone with a car carrier cost me 13000 INR. I got in held on car on bike carrier and got it home. even though on bumpy Gurgaon Faridabad road carrier held bike very well.

I will take bike for ride tomorrow morning :-) today just had a trial run.

I think cyclone 2011is much improved. My friend got a cyclone abt 3-4 yrs back that time it didnt had shimano gears.

I have posted a few pics at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... .552067414 (sorry for blur images, these are taken from mobile camera)

Today I went for ride 6 in the morning. I rode about 3 km withing Valley view society on gurgaon faridabad road. there are up and down steeps at some points here. I tried out gear combinations to went up steep. after 2-3 tries I was able to jump up steep. I think I need to reduce my wt :-). this is my first gear bike. I did cycling till my school days.

overall I am very happy with VFM deal.

I recommend cyclone over target if you are not looking for disc brake option.

shimano gears are too smooth. but I can hear some sound while changing gears and applying break. I will try to sort it out with service guys.

keep you posted for more serious rides

Hello i have a Firefox cyclone. It is a good cycle. It has been in my possession for about four months. It is better than most of the hard tail bikes. The only problem is the gear shifting. While at high gear (say 2 - 6) it is not very smooth . Apart from that the bike is very sturdy as i have driven it even on off roads a number of times. . I cycle in Dehradun and the ride uphill is not very daunting. Although the the weight of the bike is 14-kilos it does not effect much . It is a very light ride on flat roads. Most of my cycle rides have happened during the monsoons .

P.S. : I always make it a point to clean my biike after a long distance ride around which is generally between 70 - 100 kms. Please do clean your bikes everyday as it will ensure that the major parts remain dust free. Happy cycling to all of you
