Minkey,

I completely agree. Whatever run in i've had with any group of Amway folks has left me shaking my head :)

I have no choice therefore I must use Amway products :D

That said, I am personally completely clear about which of those products are effective and (almost) VFM or not. I can recommend a limited subset which I've done - reg the rest of their products, I really understand your sentiments :)

I've used Optimum Nutrition's whey protein (though I'm more into aerobics than weight training - time to concentrate on the latter!) Recently I also bought ON's oats+whey which claims to provide fibre as well. But I'm sparing with dosage - one 2lb tub lasts me over a month, because I also get protein from meat/fish/eggs. I guess my weight loss (about 10 kilos over the past year) can be attributed to a combination of regular cycling/walking and occasional supplements such as this.

As for Amway, I was introduced to it one fine day in 1998, when some loser buttonholed me on the #india-bangalore room in TalkCity (anyone here old enough to remember the days of IRC and BBSes?) and bugged me for an hour about an amazing new company that's just entered India and which was going to help me earn piles of money in my spare time. I lost my Amway virginity right there, and since then I've had no patience for such folk. Sadly, the easiest way to lose a friend is to lose them to Amway (or another MLM racket).

I have always thought that to lose weight via the Whey supplements, one would need to replace a meal with a whey shake.
This would give a dose of protein without fats.

Functionally it would be like eating chicken/fish boiled with just some Garlic+salt+pepper. :) But not as tasty.
I don't mind coming to work, but this 6-hour wait to get back on the bike is irritating.

I have also started taking Creatine since past week. Last week was loading with 2tbsp (20gm) a day. This week i'll go to 1tbsp (10gm) a day. I take it with water before a workout.
So far i haven't noticed anything different in my performance on the bike.
Last year i used to take a lot of Vit capsules, but this year i haven't taken any. And i never felt the lack of it.
I do take whey after workout coz i dont take any special recovery drink. Whey acts as a decent recovery.
That said, i do have ordered a good set of SIS, Zipvit and Powerbar products to take especially during the race
I've noticed i have hardly been eating in a race. Or taking caffeine during the race. Delhi race i suffered coz i didn't take caffeine in race or had carb gels.
For a road race of 70-120kms where speeds are 40-42kmph avg, you need to top up the carbs and electrolytes.

PowerBar Protein Plus 80% DrinkLion Bar 700g
Zipvit Sport Zv2 Energy Drink Extreme Orange - 1.05kg
PowerBar Power Gels Vanilla 41g (Box 24)
High5 Zero Xtreme Electrolyte Tablets Berry - 20 Tablets (Caffeine Stimulant)
Science In Sport Go Electrolyte Sports Fuel Tub Blackcurrant - 1.6kg

To lose weight by replacing one meal of the day with a shake, try this - http://www.teambeachbody.com/nutrition-shake/shakeology

From what I read, creatine is used to improve maximum explosive power of the body by increasing concentration of ATP in the muscles
This will help at activities like sprinting and powerlifting when you go all out for a few seconds
It also isnt taken for more than 2 months at a time

If endorsements by sportsmen carried any weight, I suggest we all take to drinking Boost three times a day.

World No 1? In what way? The same way McDonalds is world No 1 in burger sales? It is basically vitamins and minerals. You can get tablets that provide the same stuff for a quarter of the price.
