Cost of shipping a bike to US

Postby vbv » June 13th, 2012, 6:09 pm

Hi,

I am moving to US for a period of one year. Planning to take my Trek 4300 along with me.
Can anyone help me on the cost of shipping of the bike to US?

Thanks,
vbv

Sell it and buying a used bike in the US is the best option. For the money you will get for your bike in India you can buy a much better used model out there. Just saying.

May be it is time to buy a new road bike or a better MTB in the US and bring it to India after one year :D

+1 to buying a much better bike in the US.
The used bike market is much bigger and you shouldn't have any trouble buying one.

Then there's always the option of buying a new bike :-)

I would say buying a new bike from US would be better. Shipping would be a pretty complicated process.

Check with the airline that you're flying on...I know Etihad used to be either $200 or $300 for putting something in the cargo hold, from a dog in its crate to a bike. Worth checking out with your airline if you're serious about bringing it - and probably cheaper doing it that way than shipping it.
