Air Pump for Trek 1200

Postby raknair » June 10th, 2008, 8:12 am

Hello All,

Just a little question for cyclists around kochi area. I have a TREK 1200 and I am having problem inflating my rear tyre,

I cannot use conventional air pump as the valve is of a different kind. The pump I have works fine on the front wheel but for some reasons having trouble using it on the rear wheel. The one I have is a hand pump.

Are there any cycle shops in Kochi who sells imported cycles ? I went to few around palarivattom side but they all have the conventional valve pump which I cannot use.

I am grounded for the moment and I am not enjoying it at all.
Anyone from Kochi ?? Call me 9895732372.. we can go for a ride on sunday or may be saturday evenings.....

Let me know...
Rakesh Nair.

thanks bro !!!! I wonder why the front valve works fine but the rear one is having trouble. There is certainly no puncture as the tube is still about 90% inflated.

I have emailed you my address... thanks for sending me the gizmos :)

There are only three kinds of valves that are available for bikes.
1. Dunlop
2. Schrader
3. Presta

Dulop valves are one finds on Hero Jet(traditional bike).

Schrader are what you find on scooter(chetak).

The diameter of the [1] [2] valves is longer than the [3]. So Presta valves are found on bikes that have very narrow rims.(For rim stability)

From net I could not find that 1200 uses Presta valve. Rohan(BOTS) can comment.

If your tube has [2] valve, for 2/- you find conversion nuts that you can fit on you [2] valve and then use traditional hand pump.

Abhi, you really had pick me here ahh? :-) A little bit of humour it seems helps in healing faster!

My mother is starting to get very worried about the 2 brothers, One at 34 is walking around with a broken arm and other at 30 has no interest in marriage or settling down (in Indian terms) as he cannot think of anything but his Trek 1200 :-)
