I had to make this little wedge to fix the lower end of the rear fender

since my bike doesn't have any horizontal tube between the chain stays near the BB

Good workaround, Anool.

OT: Why is the chain so clean, still? :)

Anyone ordering full fenders anytime soon? Or anyone from Bangalore ordering a package and can include a set of fenders like these in it.
Yesterday nights showers had all the dirt on the road flying everywhere. Came home like a (brown) dalmatian with spots of dirt all over.

Anool - nice DIY.

Anool : Awesome wedge! I bought a taparia 14" bolt cutter and just finished installing black fenders on the surly. I'll install white fenders on my fixie and post pictures. Working on the fenders is so much easier with the right tools.

the second time around, it was waaay much easier to fit the fenders. I just used a hack-saw to chop off the excess stays, and a grinder + file to make the ends smooth.

And I'm done installing fenders. Here are the crappy pictures of super awesome bikes and bolt cutter.

Removing the rear wheel on a single speed bike fitted with SKS Fenders (horizontal dropout) requires removing additional bolts holding the fender stays, which can be a pita on the road.

One solution is to remove the quick release plastic thingy used for the front fender stays and use it for the rear fender instead. The front fender stays are then fixed using regular allen head screws.

Like thus :

Not sure what is the problem faced? I had no issues removing the rear wheel on my Surly with the Fenders on! & I have SKS Long fenders, which are longer & wider than standard.

problem is due to horizontal dropouts. You need to pull the wheel back to remove it from the frame, but it snags on the fender.

hmmm!!! For me it's semi-horizontal so no issues.

I have no issues on the surly either. Its the cutter which has this issue. Hopefully I won't have reasons to switch tires often :)

I did and it does. Best cable and housing and fender stays cutter. Added fancy blue cabling to the cutter and it looks great now :D

So I figured out an easy way to ditch the 8mm hex spanner from my saddle bag make the fenders a bit more allen key friendly. All you need to do is take off the 8mm stay bolts and swap them out for V brake end bolts - yes, they are of the same thread size!! So, don't throw away your old brake pads :)

Is now a stay bolt!

^^ I doubt if you'd get replacement mounts -- haven't seen them anywhere yet. I had to get a new set of SKSes (Wide-Road) recently since I cut my old (rear) one. So, I might have a spare set of mounting hardware that I can send across (need to check). What parts do you need?
