Spinning

Postby balu » January 14th, 2008, 4:18 pm

What do you do when you wake up too late for a morning ride on a Sunday?
What if its raining outside? How do you improve your stamina for all those long climbs without having to drive 4 hours to the outskirts of the city for a good hill?
Check out spinning - it could be the activity when you are stressed for time and also when getting to good and traffic free roads is not practical.

It takes the joy out of cycling but sure beats trying to work up a good cadence on crowded Blr roads.

This might be a good training aid for all those aspiring to do the MTB Himachal.

Trek has accessories with which you can 'spin' at home using your normal bicycle. Its an attachment that fits under the rear wheel, so that your cycle can double up as a spin machine !

Not sure how much its priced. The last time I spoke to them, they were still in the process of getting these to India.

Life is far too short to skip doing what you enjoy. But, remember to keep your feet on the ground.

They are called "resistance trainers" for indoor training. Attached below is a link to some models and their prices.

Even the most basic one will get the job done

I own the Cycleops and I use it occasionally. These days I prefer to battle the sub zeros rather than use a indoor trainer. I rode right thru winter this year after all isn't cycling all about being outdoors?
