Leisurely sunday cycle ride

Postby ajit » October 4th, 2011, 4:49 pm

Dear all,

After getting the sporterra, some months back, my riding has been as per aptly quoted below:-

"Too often I would hear men boast of the miles covered that day, rarely of what they had seen." -- Louis L'Amour, novelist (1908-1988)

I go for weekly sunday ride about 20km in all, at speed of about 14-20kph in the morning hours.

What i found THE best about cycling was that, it gives you the pleasure of appreciating the mundane things in life, things which otherwise, one takes for granted and are probably missed in the fast pace of life and off course of the "fuel" driven vehicles.

Attaching links to my sunday cycling trips(FB)- off course you would hardly see cycle in it- because it is my appreciation of surroundings while on the machine.

Many of you might be into the speed and distances, but to me, the charm of quiet cycling, while smelling the nature around, is the best!

I agree with the OP but the moment I see empty road or someone I can catch trail or race against my mind switches to race mode. The only smelling and riding I'v done was the CAM ride @ bhagamandala and it was worth it... :-) Wish do the joy rides more often now.. But being a roadie scum thats a hard thing to come by :-P

Way to go Ajit.

Cycling allows one to enjoy the journey unlike the other modes where the focus is to reach the destination. :-)

The photos are really nice.

Looking forward to more such posts.
